Christy K. MonsonEducation: University of Oregon Law School (2000) B.A. in Political Science, University of Idaho, Phi Beta Kappa (1992) Professional: Christy has focused her legal career on Oregon municipal law and public-entity advocacy. She's assisted Oregon's governments with everything from lobbying to councilor trainings, employment law to annexations. Christy's government clients trust her to understand and explain not only the intricacies of the law, but also any critical political and policy options. Christy has provided training to many governmental associations, such as the Special Districts Association of Oregon, the League of Oregon Cities, the Oregon Association of Municipal Recorders, the Oregon Association of Water Utilities and the Oregon Municipal Finance Officers. Personal: Christy is the 2010 chairperson of the Oregon State Bar's Government Law Section. She has co-authored the government ethics chapter for the League of Oregon Cities City Councilor Handbook. She is also a member of the Oregon City Attorneys Association and has served as an advisory member on many legislative workgroups, including the Oregon Law Commission's Government Ethics Work Group. Christy also donates her time assisting Oregon's foster care system. She and her husband own a Eugene backpacking store, which gives her a hands-on understanding of employer-employee relations. In her spare time, she hikes and skis with her family and Allie, her golden retriever.
