Professional:
Mr. Speer served as a Captain in the Army office of the Judge Advocate General, Procurement Branch, Litigation Division, in Washington D.C. for three years and subsequently returned to Eugene, where he has been in private practice since October 1964. His practice is concentrated in estate planning, probate, business and corporate law with special emphasis in tax. He assists clients with wills, trusts, federal and state transfer taxes, business formations, employment agreements, pension and profit sharing plans, leases, real estate developments, and all types of contracts used by businesses. Mr. Speer has served as Chair of the Taxation Section, Treasurer of the Estate Planning & Administration Section and Secretary of the Legal Management Section of the Oregon State Bar. He has also been President of the Estate Planning Council, a member of the State Professional Responsibility Board, Chair of the Local Professional Responsibility Committee, and Regional Chair of the Disciplinary Panel. He has been a frequent lecturer at Bar and civic activities; and has also served on the Board and as an officer of various civic and charitable organizations.
